Michael Jackson wrote the song speechless in Germany after a water balloon fight with kids. It took him 45 minutes to complete writing the lyrics. Michael claimed it was one of his favorite songs off the 2001 Invincible album. The song was written solely by Michael Jackson. "I was so happy after the fight that I ran upstairs in their house and wrote 'Speechless'. Fun inspires me. I hate to say that, because it's such a romantic song." He added, "But it was the fight that did it. I was happy, and I wrote it in its entirety right there. I felt it would be good enough for the album. Out of the bliss comes magic, wonderment, and creativity." The song was released as a promotional single in Korea only. Michael Jackson sang "Speechless" a cappella in his film "This Is It"
